Off-Season Basketball Tryouts

Plano East Basketball tryouts will start on August 12th. Tryouts will continue for a period of four days. Tryouts are to establish an off-season roster. Basketball offseason rosters will be announced on August 15th. Varsity, JV, Freshman A, and B teams will not be finalized until after the football season. This year there will be no JV2 team.

Because of the large number of kids trying out, we will have 2 different tryout times. If your son was in Basketball last year he will try out from 3:30-4:30 on the court. If he was not in Basketball last year but wants to make the team this year his tryout will be from 4:30-5:30 in the gym at Plano East.

All kids enrolled in athletics will tryout during their athletics period. All kids that want to try out , but don't have athletics on their schedule, will try out from 4:30-5:30.

Everyone needs to wear their own clothes to play in during tryouts. We will have practice gear for the kids that make the team.

During the season Seniors can only plan on Varsity. Juniors can play on JV or Varsity. Sophomores can play on JV2, JV, or Varsity teams. Freshman can play on the Freshman A or B, JV, or Varsity teams.

All Freshman will start tryouts with the freshman coaches. After a few days of tryouts, some kids may be invited to Plano East to try out with the older kids. This year there will only be 1 Freshman A and 1 Freshman B teams on the Eastside. All freshman team tryouts, workouts, and practices will be conducted at McMillen High School during the 8th period. If your son does not go to school at McMillen there will be a shuttle bus at the very end of 7th period that will shuttle him to McMillen.

Plano ISD is undergoing major construction this year. The Eastside is getting significant improvements to our athletic facilities. Due to the nature of construction some of the times and locations may be changed to accommodate our available gym space.
